Donald MacLean ¹

  General Notes:

Sheila Fairbairn remembers visiting an Uncle Donald in Edinburgh with her father in the 1930s when her mother, Annabella Bathgate (nee MacLean), was ill. She thought that that uncle was her maternal grandfather's brother.

She recollects hearing that that Uncle Donald was at sea during World War I. However, that would be when he was over 61 - which would be old even for the merchant navy. Apparently he also worked on the trams in Edinburgh. He and his wife had one son who died accidentally at work in his late teens or early twenties. ⁵
