James Fairbairn 1 2 3
![]()
James Fairbairn and wife Agnes Burgon watched from shore in the Eyemouth disaster as three of their sons perished, three within a stones throw of safety. In April 1884 James made an application for help from the relief fund which was turned down. 'He is too old for the fishing, his wife too frail. He lost three sons - two of them unmarried and living with him - at his own door he saw two of them perish. Now another son Paul has left to be married and his final son may do likewise. ![]() James married Agnes Burgon. (Agnes Burgon was born about 1817 in Eyemouth.) |
